“Xiaguan Brick Tea” also called Xiaguan Compressed Tea, is designated to be produced by the Yunnan Xiaguan Tea Factory. This kind of tea is improved on the basis of the original mushroom-like compressed tea with the “Baoyan Brand” as its regisred trademark.The product is characteristic of shinny dark luster, pure scent, mellow taste and orange-red liquor. The national minorities inhabiting the Qinghai-Tibet plateau show favoritism to this kind of tea for its effect of aiding digestion and reducing grease. Thus the tea has become their daily necessity. The Xiaguan Brick Tea belongs to the category of compressed tea that can be made for drink or cooked as food. Its compressed mass makes it easy to store and convenient for transportation. In 1989 tea was awarded the Title of Quality Product of the Yunnan Province and in 1995 the Title of China’s Famous Brand of Tea.
